Oriel College wanted to help fund their successful outreach programme with support from their Alumni. They also wanted to update the look of their new marketing materials, so they contacted B&M to see if we could help.
The outreach programme gives a vital insight to students considering studying at Oriel. By arranging visits to schools, engaging with teachers and allowing potential students to visit and experience life in college, Oriel has seen first-choice applications rise each year.
The new brochure needed to highlight the outreach teams work and how a donation could help. With the alumni having graduated from Oriel, they know at first hand how life-changing it can be to study at Oxford University. A gift would allow them to give that same opportunity to students from under-represented schools and areas.
We designed a bright and friendly document that works with their existing branding but adds a new, dynamic and fresh visual approach. Bold and impactful colours contrasted with the classic serif fonts. Photographs were selected to evoke the memories of the alumni's time in college. Visually, this was quite different to Oriel's previous materials.
For the content, suggested donation amounts were highlighted, along with a description of how the donation could help. We also shifted away from the text-heavy style more commonly associated with university marketing campaigns. Adding a tear-off donation form also made it quicker and easier to make a gift.
In addition to the design, B&M printed, fulfilled and mailed the brochure to their alumni across the country.
